Félix the cat is a character of American cartoon created by Otto Messmer or Pat Sullivan. Even today, it is difficult to know who is the real creator : dead Pat Sullivan, his assistant Otto Messmer claimed the character. Feline Follies (1919 ) was the first film of the cat. The graphic and poetic influence of the full of life version of Krazy Kat is there obvious. The series had an international success throughout 1920s, but with the coming of the American talking films and the creation of Mickey Mouse, Félix quickly lost of his popularity. Félix reappeared later on the American television in the 1960s supervised by Joe Oriolo. Oriolo added new characters and new elements, such as Félix the cat s magic bag (who could take any shape and be transformed into diverse accessories), or the enemies of Félix: the Professor, the anonymous crazy scholar, generally accompanied with his accomplice Rocky the Brute, and the dangerous extraterrestrial named the fort in subject '' or '' the boss rolls ''.
In 1995, Félix the cat returns in a new series of animation created by Bob Koch: The Twisted Adventures of Felix the Cat. This series retied little with the episodes of the 1920s by its dreamlike poetry, while maintaining the presence of the magic bag.
